Having graduated during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, gaining experience to make myself competitive was vital. At Winning Mark I was given the opportunity to work on direct mail projects and social media campaigns. Not only did I learn how to use these tools within a political environment, but I also was able to work with an amazing team. Learning from enthusiastic, supportive people is truly the best way to spend an internship.

Interning at Winning Mark was a great experience. Over three months, I worked with a talented team of people who loved their jobs. The staff was extremely helpful and managed to make me feel like part of the team after only a few days of work at Winning Mark. I had a great variety of tasks, from developing websites to creating web-based campaigns. Most of all, I was able to put into practice my knowledge of web technologies for a rich array of clients. This internship in Portland was a unique opportunity and I will remember it for a long time.

I interned for Winning Mark during the summer of 2009. Though I had some familiarity with social media before my internship, I learned great tools for using these platforms (notably Facebook, blogs, and Twitter) within a political context. Having worked in other areas of politics and policy, I really appreciated the exposure to other facets of the political field. I had the opportunity to work on a number of different campaigns, and it was great to get such a broad perspective and range of experience. One of the things that attracted me to Winning Mark was the fact that they only take on issues and candidates they believe in; knowing the importance of the work I was doing was a great motivator (plus, everyone was great to work with, so I enjoyed going to the office in the morning anyway). I was also invited to participate in numerous discussions and strategy sessions, making me feel like I was truly a part of the team.

I was really lucky to find an internship where I was able to work as a real part of the team and make a difference in the real world. During the course of my internship, I was exposed to every side of the world of campaigns, and learned something new just about every day. All in all, it was an incredible experience!
