City Commissioner Sam Adams Blog Voted Best of Portland

In 2005, Winning Mark received its first major award for a campaign blog with www.commissionersam.com, a blog where Sam and his staff chronicle their daily responsibilities in the City Commissioners office and allows site visitors to engage in dialogue with Commissioner Sam and his team. Winning Mark chose to work on Commissioner Sam as our first 'blog' because of Sam and his Staff's dynamic programs, such as the “100 Businesses in 100 Days” campaign and his desire to engage Portland in the goals and challenges of the Commissioner's office.

The result? CommissionerSam.com was voted “Best Blog in Portland” by the Willamette Weekly, featured in numerous publications including a cover story in the state's largest newspaper, and Commissioner Sam’s office is receiving overwhelming positive feedback from Portland voters:

“I would first like to applaud Commissioner Adams for developing this method to get input from constituents. True democracy requires much more of us than voting in elections. We have forgotten that the original intent of our democracy was to facilitate citizen participation in their own governance. This website is a very effective way to accomplish that.”

CommissionerSam.com has been featured in nearly a dozen newspapers and magazines and continues to grow as a dynamic source of dialogue between Portland citizens and Commissioner Sam Adams.
