Winning for Schools

Winning Mark has a long and proud record of working on behalf of measures that provide funding for public services. Over the years we have won over a billion dollars for schools, parks, libraries, public safety, health care, mental health and other human services.

Passing funding measures requires a particular set of skills.

Our approach is to treat them as both political issues and retail transactions, linking the personal benefits of the measure with fundamental values and priorities of voters.

Winning Mark has an exceptional record of successfully communicating those values and winning funding measures in the toughest of environments. Our winning percentage is unmatched: We have won 30 out of 33 funding measures, and have a better that 90% winning percentage on ballot measures overall.

School Funding

We are especially proud of our work on behalf of schools, passing both capital measures and operating levies.

Winning Mark also conceptualized, organized and managed Oregons Coalition for School Funding Now, widely credited as the most effective genuinely broad-based citizen lobbying effort in state history.

Two of our most recent wins were particularly notable: a Yes + Yes campaign to raise capital and operating funds for Illinois CUSD 300 and passing a mill levy override to build new schools in Colorado Springs Falcon School District 49. These were challenging campaigns that few thought could be won, both in conservative, tax-averse communities. These campaigns are representative of our ability to win tax measures in some of the toughest environments in the nation.
