Pollie-winning pig brings in voters for the Humane Society of the United States
During the 2006 election cycle, the Humane Society of the United States sponsored Arizona's Proposition 204, which would require that pigs and calves be housed in decent conditions. The measure, aimed at factory farming operations which keep animals in truly horrific conditions, prevailed despite being heavily outspent by the opposition. One of the priorities of this campaign was to ensure that pro-animal protection people made it to the polls. Some initial work showed that there was a real risk of the base missing the election. “Voter Advisory, Contains Actual Information” – Sam Adams for City Council

Falcon Schools, Colorado Springs
El Paso County’s Falcon School District 49 is one of the fastest growing school districts in Colorado. Located in Colorado Springs, every one of the district’s schools were at or above capacity, with over 20,000 new students expected over the next 10 years. The problem? Colorado Springs notoriously anti-tax voters had rejected a number of funding measures to ease the overcrowding and build for the future. Working closely with campaign manager Kjersten Forseth, Winning Mark devised a direct mail and radio program that connected the urgent needs of the schools with the basic value of public schools to the community. The result was an upset victory after previous defeats. Read more...
